16. Ravens vs. Titans

Return of the King

The Titans are staring down the barrel at 0-4. If the Titans go 0-4, heads will roll; people will start getting benched and fired. But there is a silver lining. The Ravens' defense is very exploitable. The Titans also showed they can beat good teams. They were so close to taking out the Eagles. If they can right their wrong from that game, maybe they can save the season. The Ravens, on the other hand, have to roll over the Titans because when you have a winnable game, you have to take advantage. The Titans have been the trap game of trap games for the Ravens, bouncing them in the playoffs. But this time the Ravens have Derrick Henry. The Titans wrote him off and decided they could do better without him. Were they right? Will the new team they built take down the Ravens once again, or will Derrick Henry punt them while they are down?

15. Bills vs. Patriots

A Really Bad Time

Sometimes the schedule is electric, and sometimes it's unfortunate. Unfortunately for the Patriots, they have to face their rivals who are playing their best football at a time when the Patriots are playing the worst football ever. Any given Sunday and all that, but the Bills are about to make things even worse.

14. Packers vs. Bucs

Are We Cooked?

The Packers have been terrible this season, and after losing to the Falcons and struggling with bottom-tier teams, they face a winless Bucs team that doesn't even have their starting QB. The Packers need to win this game if they want to keep up in the playoff race. If the Packers lose, they are cooked. If the Bucs lose, they are cooked too. They may be 0-3 and one game away from the lead in the playoffs, but 0-4, and they are definitely cooked.

13. Jets vs. Bears

Revenge of the Backups

This year seems to belong to the backups. Geno Smith said they wrote me off, I just never wrote back. He had a career resurgence, and he’s even made it back to the team that wrote him off in the first place and is playing great. One problem is the Jets are 1-2. Back to a losing record. The reality is that it doesn’t matter how well he plays if the team ends the season with a bad record. He will get the blame. This week he has oppertunity against the Bears with their third string QB. Or do they? The Bears just blew out the Eagles with Case Keenum at the helm. Case is having a career resurgence, but can he keep it going? Who are the bears? Are they this defense that has held their last two opponents to 9 & 7, or the defense that gave up 35? Are the Bears the offense that scored 59 and 27 or the offense that scored 3? Do they even need Caleb, or is Ben Johnson all the bears need?

12. Dolphins vs. Vikings

Fire Flores Returns

The Dolphins cast Flores out years ago despite having multiple winning seasons. Now it’s time for an update. For Flores, we know he’s had to go back to coordinating and has sued over the discrimination he’s faced as a head coaching candidate. He’s also become the best defensive coordinator in football. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are in ruins. Torn down to the studs, firing the coach and QB they picked over Flores. The Dolphins are winless thus far, and the Vikings are undefeated. Can Flores take a victory lap around the entire Dolphins organization and send them to 0-4? Or will the Dolphins ruin Flores again and break the Vikings' undefeated streak?

Saints vs. Falcons

Separator

This rivalry game is a separator game. The Saints have been the surprise of the season, and they have proven they hang with any team. They even beat the Ravens. But they are only 1-2, which doesn’t feel right. If they are who they have shown themselves to be, they should run away with this division. The Falcons have started the other way. They were awful the first two weeks, and then everything changed when they got Pennix back at Quarterback. They took down the Packers, and here they sit at 1-2. Are they gonna be the team we saw beat the Packers, or will they turn back into a pumpkin against the Saints?

Giants vs. Cardinals

Staying Alive

Both teams have outperformed their expectations. The Giants were supposed to fall apart without Dart, but they haven’t. Instead, they won their first game without him. How long can they keep this up, and can Winston keep the newly traded JJ McCarthy on the bench? Cardinals looked like they didn’t have much going for them either, but they have looked solid. The 49ers ran over them, but there's such a big talent gap there. But this is a much more winnable game; the Cardinals are gonna be able to take advantage and possibly take a playoff spot down the road, or will they prove to be the same old Cardinals?

Lions vs. Panthers

Big Cat Bowl

Two blue NFL apex predator cat teams. Both are in similar situations: very impressive offense and a less-than-stellar defense. This should be a shootout between two number one overall pick QBs. Also, the Panthers are also challenging for a spot. They are trying to do what the Lions did and definitively turn their franchise around and contend, and the Lions are trying to hold their contending window open. Who will rise and who will fall?

The Chargers are a disaster. 0-4, they have never been this bad. As the losses pile up, Hebert's excuses get thinner and thinner. People are done with the IF Man sympathy at this point. The question now is who’s going down with this ship. The head coach, the offensive coordinator, or the QB? Is there a time they think about benching Herbert? If they fall to 0-5, certainly everything has to be on the table. The Seahawks can deliver that. They are one of the better teams in the NFL. Or at least they were with Drew Lock. That’s right, I’ll say it so you don’t have to: the Seahawks have played better with Drew Lock at QB this year. If San Darnold wants to stomp on that narrative, he has to win. Because right now he’s the one who broke their undefeated streak.

Battle for Texas

The Cowboys are America's team, or so they say. But are they even the best team in Texas? The Texans have won 2/3 of their last games against the Cowboys. Now both teams limp into this game hungry. Cowboys are 1-2, and the Texans are 0-3. They both need to win badly. They both are supposed to be way better than this. Will the Texans get their first win, or will the Cowboys prove they are the big brother and send the Texans spiraling to 0-4?

Momentum

The Colts and Commanders are both talented but incomplete rosters trying to capitalize on the potential they once showed. Both are coming off their first wins of the season and are trying to keep it going. But someone has to be smacked back to reality.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. The Steelers and Browns may have some new faces, but the rivalry is just so typical of these teams. Two teams winning ugly who aren’t actually sure how good they are, but we know they are tough as nails. Who will be the victors that get to write this next chapter or the rivalry. Will Aaron Rodgers terrorize another division like he did the NFC North or will the Browns expose the Steelers?

Jags and the Bengals. Two teams with a first overall pick at QB. Both with tons of offensive weapons, and both who finally seem to have a defense again. Both teams are in a position to compete but who’s the real Super Bowl contender and who’s the pretender?

These are two stacked rosters with hard nosed relentless defenses and a head coaching match up of two of the best in the league: Sean Payton and Kyle Shanahan. Payton already took down Mcvay is Shanahan next?

It doesn’t get any better than this. Two undefeated teams competing to break each other's streaks. Two hungry defenses. Two QBs coming back from injury, trying to reclaim what they lost. And the history. Is it finally time for the Raiders to surpass the Chiefs, or do the Chiefs still own the Raiders?

This is becoming a bit of a rivalry. These teams meet up In the playoffs, and they both have one of the best gms in the league. But they both haven’t put it all together yet, and they are bo,th coming off gut wrenching losses. Who’s gonna get back on to the Super Bowl track and win this game. This could preview the conference title game, or become a game we look back on as costing them everything.
