AJ vs. Cody Rhodes Universal Championship I Quit Match 83/100 B

Cody vs. AJ

This I Quit match wasn't as vicious as it could have been, but it was entertaining. I didn't love Cody Rhodes's mom getting involved. She slapped AJ multiple times, which made AJ look weird for letting her do it. At one point, it looked like she was just having fun, and then she sat down, but Cody didn't stop AJ. Instead, AJ just walked away, which made the moment pointless. I would rather Cody get involved, so it seems like AJ would have hit Mama Rhodes with a chair.

Cody Rhodes WWE TItle

Also, Cody Rhodes was knocked out by AJ, which made it seem like Cody should have lost. But on the bright side, Cody had a strong comeback when he made all of his best moves and just punished Styles in the middle of the ring, even taking out a chair to dump Styles on before handcuffing him to the corner and threatening to hit him with Steel Steps. AJ finally quit when he was defenseless in the corner. It made sense but left a little to be desired.

Jade & Bianca vs. The Unholy Union vs. Zoey & Shayna Women's Tag Team Championship Match 84/100 B

Women's Tag Team Triple Threat

This was a really entertaining match. Bianca and Jade are so athletic, and the rest of the tag teams showed they weren't slouches, either. Bianca and Jade dominated early. They dominated so much that the other two teams teamed up against them to take them out. This initially seemed to favor Shayna and Zoey, but then The Unholy Union started rolling. However, Bianca and Jade came back to save their titles.

Alba and Isla

Now, unfortunately, Jade slipped on her hot tag while trying to jump off the ropes. Jade did a great job recovering, but unfortunately, the crowd and the match flow didn't. All three teams still executed great moves, but the timing was a little off. Sometimes, it felt like there was too much hesitation in the moves, or they were too fast or too slow. Despite everything, after Jade got choked out by Shayna, Bianca helped Jade take over the match, and then, at the last second, Isla Dawn threw Jade and stole the victory. I think this was a bad choice. It might be a nice story for the night, but having Bianca and Jade as your tag team champions raises the tag championships' profile and every card they are on. This felt like second and poorly planned. For some reason, the Women's Tag Titles aren't allowed to thrive.

Gable vs. Sami Intercontinental Championship Match 85/100 B

Gable Otis Maxine

This is a difficult match to grade because it went on for a long time, but the action was just above average. Also, despite everything that was done in the ring, the actual interesting part of the match was Alpah Academy. Gable once again tried to get his group to help him cheat, and once again, they utterly failed him by shooting blanks when it mattered most. There was an electric moment when Sami threw Gable into Maxine's injured leg, and all Otis saw was a collision. For a second, everyone thought Otis was going to whopp Gable. Then Gable distracted the ref so Otis could get revenge on Sami, but instead of being manipulated, Otis carried Maxine out. Once the storyline was over, Sami kicked a distracted Gable in the face and won the match.

Bayley vs. Piper 80/100 B-

Bayley Elbow drop

This match was exactly what you would expect. Piper had some hope moments and got close, but Bayley pulled out the win. Highlights of the match were Chelsea Green coming out in a Rey Mysterio mask that matched her finest outfit yet. She distracted the ref, leading to Piper hitting her finisher and coming nanoseconds away from winning it all. Also, Bayley hitting her Bayley to Belly off the top rope was insane. The crash was so violent. Good match overall.

McIntyre vs. Damian Priest 92/100 A

Drew Claymores Damian Priest

This can only be described as two warriors having a battle for the ages. The WWE Universe is lucky to have two guys this big and athletic in their prime at the same time. Neither man wanted to say die. Damian had his championship legacy on the line, and Drew had Scottland on his back. Damian injured his leg, and it didn't matter. He still delivered a Razor's edge off one leg. Damian Priest even hit Drew with a hurrincanrana off the top rope, and Drew got right back up and clamored him in the face. Both men took each other's finisher and kept going. It was epic. It was getting to the point where everyone in the building was wondering what the hell it gonna take to keep one of these guys down. This match showed more aggression and resilience than the I quit the match, and they didn't even use weapons. I think there is a serious conversation to be had about if Damian is the A champion in WWE.

Cm Punk screws Drew

However, Damian didn't completely prove himself because the ref got knocked out just as Drew had him beat, and then CM Punk ran out in a ref's shirt, did a fake two, and stopped. Drew got distracted, and Damian sent him south of heaven. It's not a definitive ending for Drew and Priest, but it was about as explosive of an ending as you could imagine. Cm Punk pulls all time screw job in Scottland, The Scottland Screwjob.

Reverse Hipster's Clash at the Castle 2024 Final Grade 84.8 B

Damian Priest Title Win

Clash at the Castle 2024 was a consistently solid show throughout that reached an incredible peak in the main event. This seems to be a feature of Triple H premium live events. It may sound silly, but in the Triple H era, there seems to be an emphasis on separating the main event from everything else.
