Naomi vs. Chelsea Green
Didn't Matter ⭐️⭐️
I'm surprised this wasn't a better match. I like both women, but the match was middle of the road at best, which is not the norm for the two women. In addition, there was nothing on the line. Naomi won with a distraction from Bayley, which she really didn't or shouldn't have needed.
DIY Wants A Tag Title Match
Mattered ⭐️⭐️⭐️.3
DIY wants a title match, but A-Town Down Under isn't interested. Johnny, who used to be in a group with Theory, tries to appeal to him and tell him that Grayson is using him. However, Grayson cuts him off with a punch. However, the idea that Grayson is using Theory keeps getting stronger. Once again, Austin Theory takes the hit, and Grayson gets away. This storyline has improved tremendously since its original rollout. Everything that is happening makes sense instead of feeling illogical and out of the blue. WWE fixed this one.
Piper Attacks and Blair Snarks
Didn't Matter ⭐️⭐️
Blair verbally shot at Naomi, and I'm very disappointed in how she is being used. She was given vignettes like she would be a big deal, and now she's just sitting backstage and being a mean girl. I wanted more for her. Piper attacked Naomi and Bayley, and I didn't care because she had been doing it for weeks.
AJ and Cody Face to Face
Mattered ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
AJ got some good jabs in about Cody quitting everywhere he has ever been, even the company he started. However, that was a very easy bundle for Cody. He pointed out that he had the greatest world title in wrestling, so clearly, he had just continued to advance his career. Cody, however, said AJ quit on himself, and that's why he has to cheat, and scheme and AJ couldn't rebut that.
Santos Escobar vs. Apollo Crews
Didn't Matter⭐️
This was bleak. Apollo fought Santos, and Corbin came out and whooped Legado's butt, and Apollo still lost. If Apollo couldn't win in this scenario, then how can I take him seriously?
Carmelo Hayes Declares He Is Entering In MITB
Mattered ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Carmelo clowned LA Knight and announced he has a match for Money in the Bank. It was a simple segment that served the purpose of setting up next week's match.
The Bloodline Attacks The Street Profits
Didn't Matter⭐️
Who cares? The Bloodline attacked the Street Profits, and what changed? Are the profits injured? Is it more personal now? No, it's just filler to keep the feud going.
Michin vs. Nia Jax
Mattered ⭐️⭐️⭐️
In a vacuum, this was just an okay match, and Nia Jax won easily. However, even though I can't rate this segment higher, I am interested in the story long-term. Tiffany threw water in Michin's face to get payback for Nia, and that distraction helped Nia win. Tiffany is proving herself to Nia, and I really hope they team up.
LA Knight's Housewarming
Mattered ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
LA Knight was at Logan's house when he got back from his trip. LA Knight was just chilling in Logan's Paul's pool. There was no fighting, but Logan was very upset, and it was a hilarious way for LA Knight to show he could get to Logan whenever he wanted.
Alba and Isla Dawn Come Home
Mattered ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The crowd was excited to see them as they got their interview in front of the crowd. They declared they would win it for Glasgow. It was a nice segment. There is nothing earth-shattering here, but it's nice that they could feel their people's love.
Randy Returns!
Mattered ⭐️⭐️⭐️.3
Kevin Owens lost to Solo after foolishly getting distracted by Paul Heyman. Then, The Bloodline looked like they were going to put him through a table after the match, just like last week. This match seemed destined for the Didn't Matter label, but then Randy returns! He wrecked the entire Bloodline and saved the main event. Randy is aging like fine wine.
Reverse Hipster's Final Grade. 77/100 C
This show was slightly better than last week because we got development from the Logan Paul, Nia Jax, and Randy Orton storylines. However, despite Randy's return, all the storylines only progressed marginally. There were still a lot of sections that didn't matter as well. So, the grade from this week to last also only increased marginally. It seems like SmackDown has switched places with Raw as the clear B show.
