Miracle or Murder

The 49ers looked great, and while the Dolphins looked competent, they lost one of their most winnable games. They aren’t in the 49ers league. They are either gonna pull off some miracle or get murdered.

Eagles vs. Titans

Second Rate

On one side, we have Jalen Hurts, a 2nd-round pick and Super Bowl Champion. Who’s on a mission to prove he’s the guy. Everyone thought he would fail without AJ, but he’s undefeated, and he’s looked great so far. Meanwhile, AJ got injured during a poor performance where his team choked against a backup QB, and AJ was already criticizing the Patriots' offensive line. Jalen Hurts looks like he’s winning the breakup, but it’s gonna take more than one good week to achieve that.

On the other side, we have Cam Ward, a 1st-round pick, who looks to be wasting his potential. He’s supposed to take a leap this year, and so far he’s done the opposite. But Iron sharpens iron; maybe he can learn a thing or two from Jalen Hurts.

Rolling Rolling Rolling

The Colts played well, but ultimately the Ravens rolled over them. Will the Chiefs do the same? They already rolled over the Broncos, and the Colts look very susceptible to the run. However, it wouldn’t be the first time the Colts shocked the Chiefs.

Seahawks vs. Cardinals

Battle of Birds

Both of these teams have been shocking the NFL. The Cardinals handily beat the Chargers after everyone, including me, had them written off. The Seahawks lost their QB early and were forced to play with Drew Lock; they should have been done, and yet they weren’t. Two backup QBs are getting their second chance. Who will shock us this week?

Jaguars vs. Broncos

Is it over?

The Broncos lost 31-10, and the Jaguars won 34-10. Opposite of Week 1, but while the Jaguars look like one of the best offenses in the league, the Broncos looked cooked—a big test for both teams. Jaguars gotta get through the Broncos' defense. The Broncos have to prove they are still good in every aspect. They are on fraud alert.

Steelers vs. Patriots

New Classic

The Patriots and Steelers are a classic rivalry with all new faces. You would think that coming off a Super Bowl, the Patriots would have the upper hand, but they're actually very vulnerable to this daunting Steelers defense. Drake Maye will have to either get back to his MVP form or fall victim to 0-2, which would drastically lower the Patriots' playoff odds.

In week one, Justin Herbert embarrassed himself and the entire organization by getting outplayed by Jacoby Brissett. People had him in mvp conversations! He has another chance to embarrass himself this week if he loses to the Raiders and gets outplayed by Kirk Cousins.

The entire NFC South lost week one, but the Falcons put up a good fight. It’s still anyone’s division. The NFC South is traditionally the weakest division. It’s almost its own dimension. Now that they are facing each other, we can get a peek into how this division will shake out. Who’s come the farthest?

Browns vs. Bucs

Revenge Game

Baker gets to play the Browns again. The organization that drafted him and threw him away. He gets to face the QB they replaced him with. Baker could end Deshaun Watson's starting career. The Browns already look utterly feckless, but if they also have to watch their old QB look vastly superior to Deshaun, that could be the nail in the coffin. But Baker struggled against the Bengals; he cannot play like that again, or his revenge game might turn into a blight on his career. The Browns are so bad that a loss to them would send them spiraling.

Saints vs. Ravens

David and Goliath

The Saints have to be the underdog favorite in the league. They have a young QB, a Super Bowl-winning coach, and they look to be turning around fast. But was their performance against the Lions more about them or the Lions' incompetence? The Ravens, on the other hand, steamrolled through the Colts in Week 1; will it be the same story in week two? Can the Saints hang, or will the Ravens hang 40 on them?

How Low can you go?

The Jets had a good Week 1, easily knocking off the Titans. They showed control and fewer self-inflicted wounds than they did the year before. The Packers, on the other hand, were terrible. Absolutely embarrassing performance. They lost to a backup Quarterback in Carson Wentz, and the defense gave up 30+, and the offense couldn’t stop choking until their chances of winning died. The Packers look like the worst team in the NFC North, but if they lose to the Jets, it could be worse, and against a 1-0 Jets team, they look vulnerable.

Cowboys vs. Commanders

Third Banana

The Cowboys had a disappointing loss where they looked pretty lackluster. Meanwhile, the Commanders had a strong showing and came up just short. But regardless, they both lost, and now one of them will be winless and down 0-2 in the division. Jayden Daniels is trying to get back to where he was in his rookie year, and the Cowboys are trying to get back to where they were in the 90s. Who's gonna make their comeback happen, and who’s gonna return to the bottom?

Unlikely Hero and Unlikely loser

The Giants shocked the Cowboys in Week 1. They have looked to have arrived. But the Rams got punched in the face just when they thought they had the crown already. Can the Rams fix the shit show that was week one? Can the Giants handle an angry Rams team? We are gonna find out a lot about these teams.

Living on the Edge

One game into the season and it’s hard to tell what these two teams are. The Lions got a W, but they almost choked a lead to the Saints. Barely escaping at home when you were up against an upstart New Orleans Saints team is not a good sign. The Bills, on the other hand, lit up a great Texans defense but were in a dogfight with the Texans. They, too, almost lost their game several times.

Last time these two played, Jared Goff was in MVP talks, and Josh Allen ripped that away from him, and now Jared Goff can get his revenge and prove himself. But he’s not the only one out for revenge. DJ Moore was traded from the Bears and now returns to face the NFC North with Josh Allen. He has the chance to show he never needed the Bears. The Bears under Ben Johnson have never beaten the Lions, but DJ Moore and Fields have.

One of these teams won’t be living on the edge; they will be falling off this week. The Lions need to prove their defense exists and that they can sustain without Ben Johnson. Also, we know the Bills can score, but can they defend? All will be answered this week.

Bengals vs. Texans

A Tale of Two Defenses

The Texans' defense gave up 36 to the Bills, and they aren’t getting a break this week. The Bengals are one of the league's most high-octane offenses. The Texans' money has been pushed in on the defensive side of the ball. The defense needs to be winning these games. Everyone expects them to be awesome, but a lot changes year to year. Has the Texans' defense already taken a step back, or can they prove they are still elite and contain the Bengals?

The Bengals, on the other hand, look like they finally have a defense again. Translation: the Bengals can finally win big again. They have already overcome their traditional slow start. But although their performance against the Bucs was inspiring, it was still a small sample size. We will find out whether Week 1 was more about the Bucs' offense or the Bengals' defense.

Vikings vs. Bears

Offense vs. Defense

There’s a constant tug of war between offense and defense. The media loves offense; it’s flashy, good for TV, and creates viral moments. But traditionalists will tell you defense wins championships. In truth, you need both. The real question is which do you need less of. I’d say a great defense can thrive with an average or below-average offense. But it’s much more difficult for a prolific offense to overcome an average or below-average defense.

This week we get to test that conflict again. The Vikings offense is a question mark. Will Kyler be at the helm? Is he the best QB for the job? Could Wentz do it again? The Bears have sustainability questions of their own. They have an offensive genius in Ben Johnson, and his claim to be the best offense this season is off to a strong start after the Bears hung 59 on the Panthers. But they also gave up 35. Offense probably won’t be able to put up that much every week. Also, the Vikings' defense is a lot better than the Panthers'. Both teams will be tested in this NFC North rivalry game. One team will remain undefeated and take a huge lead in the NFC North, but who?
